Bacteriostatic Water — Sterile Diluent for Research Peptide Reconstitution
Bacteriostatic Water is sterile, non-pyrogenic water for injection containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. The benzyl alcohol component inhibits the growth of common bacteria that can otherwise contaminate reconstituted solutions, allowing prepared research peptide solutions to be stored for extended periods after reconstitution without significant microbial degradation.
Bacteriostatic Water is the industry-standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilized research peptides in laboratory settings, and is supplied here for use with research compounds purchased for laboratory research purposes.
Why Bacteriostatic Water Is Used in Peptide Research
Most research peptides are supplied in lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder form and require reconstitution with a sterile diluent before they can be used in liquid form. Three reconstitution options are commonly available:
- Bacteriostatic Water — sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative. Allows reconstituted solutions to be stored for up to 28 days under refrigeration without significant microbial growth. The standard choice for research applications requiring extended storage of reconstituted peptide.
- Sterile Water for Injection — sterile water without preservative. Suitable for immediate use only; reconstituted solutions should not be stored for extended periods.
- Saline (0.9% NaCl) — used in specific research applications, but does not contain a preservative.
For most research peptide reconstitution applications, Bacteriostatic Water is the preferred diluent because of its extended-storage capability.

Storage & Handling
Store Bacteriostatic Water at room temperature (15–25°C / 59–77°F) protected from light and excessive heat. Do not freeze. Once a multi-dose vial has been accessed, the preservative system maintains sterility for up to 28 days when stored under refrigeration between uses. Discard any vial that shows visible contamination, discoloration, or particulate matter.
Shipping & Handling
All orders are shipped with appropriate packaging. Domestic orders typically arrive within 2–4 business days. Tracking is provided on every order. Bacteriostatic Water does not require temperature-controlled shipping under normal conditions.

Storage & Handling
Proper storage and handling are essential to maintaining peptide stability and ensuring the integrity of your research material.
Storage Recommendations
Lyophilized peptides should be stored at -20°C for long-term preservation. For short-term storage of up to 30 days, refrigeration between 2-8°C is acceptable. Reconstituted peptides should always be refrigerated and used within 30 days.
Avoid the following:
Direct sunlight or UV exposure Repeated freeze-thaw cycles Temperature fluctuations Storage at room temperature beyond brief handling periods
Reconstitution Best Practices
Allow vials to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation. Use bacteriostatic water as the diluent for most peptides, injecting slowly along the side of the vial. Gently swirl to dissolve — do not shake. Allow the solution to fully dissolve before drawing for research use.
Shelf Life
Lyophilized peptides maintain potency for up to 24 months when stored properly at -20°C. Reconstituted solutions should be used within 30 days for optimal research results.
